Hidradentis Suppurativa

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a skin condition which tends to develop in areas where there are sweat glands and where skin rubs together such as armpits, groin, buttocks and under breasts. HS can often present with painful, recurrent abscesses and tunnelling tracts under the skin leading to scarring and discomfort. If left untreated, HS may worsen over time and lead to complications.

Ulcers

At the Renewal Wound Care Center we specialize in the advanced care of four common ulcer types:

Venous Ulcers
Venous ulcers are damaged skin tissue or wounds that form on near the surface of the skin on the lower legs due to poor blood circulation or problems with veins.

Diabetic Ulcers
Diabetic ulcers are caused by factors related to diabetes including poor circulation and nerve damage and they develop on the feet or lower legs,

Pressure Ulcers
Pressure ulcers, also, develop when prolonged pressure on the skin leads to tissue damage. They are commonly known as bedsores and affect individuals with limited mobility, such as those confined to a bed or wheelchair.

Arterial Ulcers
Arterial ulcers are caused by poor circulation, when the blood is unable to flow into the the legs and feet. Often they are caused by blocked arteries.

Our team of specialty wound care experts tailors treatments to each ulcer type’s underlying cause and symptoms in order to optimize healing  and long term outcomes for each patient.

Our Common Treatments For Ulcers Include:

  • Wound debridement to remove damaged tissue and prevent infection
  • Advanced  dressing and protection using specialty products to promote healing
  • Pharmacological treatments such as antibiotics or anti-microbial ointments
  • Specific techniques such as compression therapy for venous ulcers and pressure-relieving devices such as specialty mattresses, cushions and supports for pressure ulcers
  • Advanced surgical options
  • Working together with other medical specialties for the care of our patients, such as with vascular specialists for arterial ulcers and endocrinologists for diabetic ulcers.

Specialized Care
Non-healing wounds may indicate underlying conditions such as poor circulation, infection or other health issues. As part of treating our patients, we collaborate with other medical specialists to help manage these conditions.

Non-Healing Surgical Wounds

These are surgery incisions that haven’t fully healed and may remain open or develop complications. Examples of non-healing wounds that we commonly treat are post C-section, plastic surgery, emergency surgery, and orthopedic surgery sites and incisions.
